How to Care for Your Tattoos in the Summertime

Before you left the tattoo studio, they gave you guidelines to care for your new tattoo.

They were probably something like, “don’t soak it in water, don’t expose it to sunlight, keep it clean, and use moisturizer.”

The point of all this fuss is to prevent infection and keep the art looking awesome.

But once your tat is healed, what then? Are you still limited for life?

After all, in the summertime, you want to be at the pool and on the beach, in the water and getting a tan.

What can you do so that your ink doesn’t fade?

First off, I need to tell you that today’s inks are much more resistant to fading than what your granddad has. But that still doesn’t let you off the hook completely.

As a rule, if you take good care of your skin, you’ll take good care of your tattoo.

For those in a hurry, you can find everything you need in our guide to the best tattoo aftercare products.

Do Women Need Hair Loss Products?

It’s not just men who lose their hair. Women experience thinning and baldness, too. Before middle age, the most common causes of hair loss in women are over-styling, medications, or illness. Then, as a woman approaches menopause, she is likely to experience androgenic alopecia.

best shampoos for hair growth

Androgenic alopecia, or female pattern baldness, happens when testosterone converts into DHT. This molecule affects hair follicles. The follicles shrink, producing finer strands, then none at all.

One of the easiest ways to prevent hair follicle failure is to begin using a best DHT-blocker shampoo. These products have ingredients like saw palmetto and rosemary that naturally prevent DHT from doing damage.

The Ultimate Body Shop Wishlist

Hey guys I was having a look on The Body Shop website & as usual they have so many fantastic offers & deals going on. I’m not sure if its still happening right now but they were doing a £25 off when you spend £50 WITH free delivery I mean how AMAZING is that?! For a Body Shop lover like me thats just heavenly so I had to have a look through all the products, once I had numerous tabs open I just knew I might as well make a list & share them with everyone so have fun scrolling

Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Milky Toner
British Rose Petal-Soft Gel Toner

Aloe Calming Toner

Seaweed Oil Balancing Toner
Aloe Soothing Night Cream

Oils Of Life™ Sleeping Cream

Aloe Soothing Rescue Cream Mask

Vitamin E Cream Cleanser

Aloe Calming Cream Cleanser

Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter

Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

Drops of Light™ Pure Resurfacing Liquid Peel

Vitamin C Glow Revealing Liquid Peel

Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation

Facial Massager

Now, this goes without saying but I might as well say it, I KNOW I don’t need all of these products  & I definitely don’t need them all at the same time seeing as they’re for completely opposing skin conditions such as needing to balance oil to needing to hydrate BUT BUT BUT as a massive beauty hoarder I would feel much more satisfied to have these items stacked away in my shelves & cabinets rather than in store

If I’m perfectly honest the only reason I want the rose toner is because I really wanna know what it smells like  hides face in shame *dont judge me*. The other products such as the aloe toner, cleanser & mask would come in very handy to have at all times  as sometimes my skin reacts badly to something & knowing I have the most soothing ingredient on hand is reassuring! Also my skin needs are CONSTANTLY changing, its an everyday battle guys  I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post… If you did then please don’t forget to ‘like’ the post down below  & follow me for more!  Thankyou

Review: The Body Shop Vitamin-E Aqua Boost Sorbet

Hey guys I hope you’re all having a good weekend, if you’re not then I’m about to make it better I hope by talking about the amazing Aqua Boost Sorbet from The Body Shop. If you’ve been reading my blogposts over the last couple months you’ll know how much I’ve been loving this moisturiser, I’ve been raving about it at every opportunity & I feel like its finally time I got round to writing a full in dept review for you guys, seeing as I’ve just finished my SECOND tub… so keep on reading if you’re interested!

For those of you who may not be familiar with The Body Shop or haven’t bought any products from there before its basically what I would call a very fresh, sort of edgy, cool brand that has a wide range of skincare & beauty items “Inspired By Nature”. They ethically source their ingredients  & are also COMPLETELY against  animal testing which is amazing . I’ve actually noticed that since I’ve been proper into my skincare & setting up a routine I’ve been falling more & more in love with The Body Shop… so that should tell you something

As I mentioned in my Sephora haul! I just wanted to dedicate this entire year to setting up a good skincare regime & somehow I’ve incorporated a lot of The Body Shop products into it, even if it was a gradual transition, its a transition which happened, mainly because I wanted to get something from the Vitamin-E range. This range is one of their best-selling & these products help protect the skin against environmental pollutions/toxins   as well as UVA/UVB rays , cigarette smoke   & any other factor which can lead to premature aging of the skin! How good does that sound

…yeah I’m not too sure what that means either  but they say it provides hydration that lasts ALL day . This lightweight moisturiser also has hyaluronic acid in it, a natural substance that already exists within the body, but as we get older apparently the levels lower  . Lower levels of hyaluronic acid in the body have a direct impact on how youthful the skin looks , which is why you’ll see a lot of the moisturisers/serums targeted specifically towards maturer skin  contain hyaluronic acid. To keep it short & simple what I THINK this acid does is attracts/retain moisturise, therefore keeping that skin looking youthful & hydrated!

This refreshing and mattifying facial moisturiser with aquasphere technology drenches skin with moisturise for all day hydration. Leaving the skin feeling cooler and softer. Now formulated with plumping hyaluronic acid, wheatgerm oil and vitamin E.

First of all let me start by agreeing to the point that it really does leave the skin feeling softer  …like a baby’s bottom kind of soft & trust me I’m prone to the crocodile back skin texture (as you may have read in my earlier posts) so my skin is in no way flawless. Even then when I apply this moisturiser for those couple hours  after my skin feels SO smooth but I can’t really speak about how long my skin stays feeling soft, seeing as I apply makeup  & that will obvs affect the moisturiser in some way?

In terms of being mattifying, it isn’t the MOST mattifying moisturiser I’ve used, as my Fresh Skincare one is just INSANE , check out my Sephora haul to see which one I’m talking about & make sure to let me know if you’d like to see a review on it below . I think it does a great job on my T-zone in comparison to another high-street matte moisturiser I’ve used though *cough theres a blog post on it cough*  Lets move on, does it make my skin feel refreshed? …I think it does?  but it could be argued that I feel refreshed because of the facial cleanser so I’m not sure, but all I know is that I LOVE THIS moisturiser & after introducing it to my sister she has fallen in love with it too!

vitamin E

I’m not sure if you guys can see the texture clearly  I tried to take a picture of it to show you how different it looks from other moisturisers, but see how it looks sort of grainy? WELL let me tell you they’re NOT grains, cause you don’t feel them at all!  OOO I just had an epiphany  maybe they’re the aqua spheres? Cause I’m guessing an aqua sphere is basically a water bubble? Well whatever those little ball/grains are they’re amazing & I just love this light & FLUFFY moisturiser! Did I mention it absorbs into the skin immediately

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post… If you did then please don’t forget to ‘like’ the post down below  & follow me for more!  Thankyou

The Mystery Blogger Award

Hey guys did the title give away what todays post is about I wanna say a huge thank you to Hollie’s Blog for my FIRST ever Mystery Blogger award & I also wanna say sorry for doing it SO bloody late I check my notifications when I get tagged in award/tag posts & then I seem to forget! I blame the cheeky monkeys running around my house all day for making me forget things but how exciting & mysterious does the tag sound though? I’m so ready for it btw talking about mysterious things what do y’all think of my Twitter name for the spooky month of October ? Let me know!

I’m 23

I currently have 10 piercings (& I need more)

I was born in The Netherlands

If you could only keep 1 makeup item what would it be & why?

Oh this is a toughie… hmm  I think it would be my favourite mascara, cause I would feel comfortable enough with bare skin seeing as I’m still allowed to use skincare items (according to this question) but then my eyelashes would feel too bare & almost lost within my face, as there is no “skincare” item I could apply to make them long, curly & volume-ous (is that a word?)

What inspires you to blog?

In ALL honesty, aside from the fact I enjoy blogging & being part of the blogosphere  The thing that really INSPIRES me to blog is the fact that it allows you to create a platform that is 100% you. Blogging is just an everyday learning sort of thing & it really sort of makes me feel empowered  It’s like given meaning to my days, from the moment I wake up, till I go sleep I’m constantly in blogger mode (in some sort of way)  I don’t know how to explain it really, but the way blogging helps people physically, mentally, financially. ALL of it inspires me to create such a personal platform for MYSELF

Do you have any interest other than blogging?

This is such an “interview” style question that just leaves my mind blank… I guess it means like what I like doing?  I like sightseeing, being near the seaside , walking around aimlessly in department stores, taking in the whole world tbh. The energy/vibrations from the world are what excite me on a daily & I often find myself just staring into nothingness ? I’ve also recently been REALLY into reading  & worked my way through “Last Seen Alive by Claire Douglas” for which I did an Instagram poll & received a pretty good response

So expect a Book review coming shortly

Whats your favourite time of the year?

It has to be Winter ? (yeah I think I love winter even more than I love autumn, am I still a blogger? ) Nah for real though I LOVE autumn – the cosy nights with blankets & hot chocolates… but winter is ALL of that + cities decorated in fairy lights, winter wonderland & CHRISTMAS MARKETS. I love the whole vibe & atmosphere  but I guess Winter doesn’t really have Halloween  & I do love Halloween hmmm

Do you eat with your fork in the left hand or right hand?

I eat with my fork in the right hand & knife in the left hand.

It has to be  If I could only use 5 makeup items I’m SO incredibly shocked, proud & thankful to everyone that has taken the time to read, comment & even view that post cause its been The Typical Beauty Blog’s MOST liked & MOST viewed post so thank you guys for that! Here’s a sneak peak of some of the products I mention in my EASY, everyday simple 5-step makeup routine

P.S thats also my FAVOURITE foundation brush & you can read all about it here …you know you want to?

  1. If you could spend one day in someone else’s shoes who would it be & why?
  2. Do you have any food combinations that you LOVE but everyone you tell looks at you in a disgusting way?
  3. What was your favourite subject at school?
  4. Whats the worst pick-up line ever been used on you/you used on someone?
  5. How do you cure your hiccups?

Looking forward to reading all your answers guys! Please make sure to tag me in your post so I can know when you’ve done them! I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post… If you did then please don’t forget to ‘like’ the post down below  & follow me for more!

Book Review: A Captivating Thriller

Hey guys  I hope you’re all having a lovely, lazy & snuggly Sunday. Todays post is all about this really exciting book  that I finished reading the other day. If you’ve been following me on Instagram (which you should be ) you’ll have seen me “Insta-storying” it frequently.

Title: “Last Seen Alive”

Author: Claire Douglas

Genre: Suspense. Thriller

Pages: 394

From the get-go by reading the prologue you feel like you’re part of the scene, the author has taken great attention to detail to make you feel like you were part of it, that you were part of the murder. A witness, perhaps. But I was left guessing whose murder it was, because although it seems straightforward; “was I seen killing my husband?” you don’t actually know who killed her husband & who her husband was.

To begin with the reader is off to Cornwall with Jamie & Libby Hall, the seemingly lead characters. They’re on their way to carry out a house swap, an idyllic setting… the house on the beach, waves crashing in . Secluded. Libby thinks its just what they need. Their marriage seems vulnerable from the start; here’s the opening paragraph:

*Spoiler alert*

Jamie twists the dial on the radio up to full volume so we can hear the stone roses over the wind whistling past our ears. He looks like one of those nodding dogs as he moves his head to the music.

“God, I love this song”

“You don’t say,” I tease, and then grimace when he starts singing along.

He notices. “What? I was the lead singer in a band when I was eighteen.” But he squeezes my thigh, a playful gesture that shows me he’s not offended. “You could’ve been our groupie.”

Im tempted to remind him that he was with hannah then. She would have been his groupie.

Before they even get to their destination we’re told about a miscarriage, but when Libby was questioned by someone & returned to tell Jamie about it he grew visibly agitated. It made me suspicious . Of him. Did he do something to Libby? Was he the reason for the miscarriage?

Hannah’s character comes into play & the reader feels empathy towards Libby, maybe she is not paranoid after all. Maybe its Jamie who is either oblivious or extremely sly. Suspicions jump back & forth between Hannah & Jamie. Maybe Hannah does want Jamie back, maybe she is the reason for the events that occurred in Cornwall. Maybe she’s the one that wanted someone dead? Then comes along a completely different twist. Maybe none of this has anything to do with Hannah or Jamie? Maybe its just a simple straight forward case of identity fraud? The reader doesn’t ponder long on that thought before a body is found . But is it the same body from the prologue? or is it a different one?

Part 2 is where things take a turn, we’re introduced to Karen Fisher. The author uses a very clever switch in narrative throughout this part, but the reader is unaware… at this point. Without ruining too much I’ll say that Part 2 introduced another character that I suspected. Could this fourth character be  linked to the things happening to Libby? I think the most applaudable twist is the one that lingers around in the entire book, oblivious to the reader up until they get to that point. The point where things start making sense. You think you know a character. But you don’t. Not really. Thailand was the pivotal point of the book for me. It helped me understand, what the prologue was about & who the lead character actually was.

*Spoiler alert*

I’ve been so desperate to hurt her, to punish her, but now that Im here, now that I’ve ruined her relationship and her career it all feels so… so anti-climatic.

Then there’s Part Three. Set in Bath. but I’ll let you have a read of that yourself. Let me just leave you with this thought…

“Consequences. We can’t escape them”

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post. If you did then please don’t forget to ‘like’ the post down below  & follow me for more! BTW this was my first time writing a book review  so sorry if I gave too much away . I’ve just really LOVED reading this book & if you’ve already read it feel free to start a discussion  & if you haven’t already read it but want to now then let me know too!

Real Techniques: The Essentinal Eye Kit

Hey guys I hope you’re all having a lovely day, I’m currently sat on my bed aka my office drinking some salted caramel coffee  & loving life. Todays post is all about The Starter Set from Real Techniques – if you’ve been reading The Typical Beauty Blog for a while you’ll know that I’ve also written a post on The Core Collection which you can read here. The Core Collection focuses on MUST-have face brushes whereas The Starter Set focuses on eye brushes … so lets get straight into it

Heres a photo of the set from my Instagram (which you should totaaaally follow) how pretty are these brushes though, whats even better is that each individual brush has its name/purpose written on it, which I find super helpful & I’m sure make-up newbies would love! If you haven’t heard of Real Techniques you must be living under a rock (no offence intended) but its such a affordable high street brand that you’re really missing out if you’ve not tried their products! They’re probably most famous for their Miracle Complexion sponge… thats right, the orange one. The brushes are of such amazing quality & SO soft due to the “Ultra-Plush Bristles” used.

Left – to – Right the set includes these brushes:

  1. Deluxe crease brush – I love how big & fluffy it is, its so great for blending out the crease & creating that soft contoured look
  2. Base shadow brush – This is possibly my least favourite of the set?  I feel like its not the best at picking up shadow & you really have to pack it on
  3. Brow brush – I LOVE this brush  its so amazing for carving out the brows & I pair it with my favourite brow product ( click to read all about it)
  4. Accent brush – Another FAVOURITE of mine, this is the #1 brush for me when it comes to carving out my brows using concealer, btw if you wanna know what my FAVOURITE concealer is have a read of this. I find that this brush also works amazing for carving out a crease, cause its such a small, delicate & completely straight brush. You can’t go wrong when you’re using it tbh
  5. Fine liner brush – I have to say I didnt use this brush for the longest time because I don’t use those liner pots, I use liquid liners instead (hmmm  maybe I should do a review on my favourite liner? Let me know in the comments ). However recently when I tried my FIRST ever ever ever EVER cut crease (a 1/2 cut crease to be exact) I found that this lil brush came in so handy & I fell in love!

I can’t remember how much I bought these for, but I know I’ve definitely seen those huge sets of 24pc brushes retailing for cheaper than this one BUT guys don’t do that to yourselves  & don’t do that to your wallets!  QUALITY OVER QUANTITY all day everyday. The Core Collection was my FIRST ever set of brushes & this being the 2nd one so just think about how long they’ve lasted & also how well they’ve lasted. If you wanna know how I wash my brushes I’ll have a post coming up soon  but if you wanna know WHAT I use to wash them have a read of this post (you’ll be surprised )

Another set of great brushes from Real Techniques, head over to this post to see which one is my favourite! I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post. If you did then please don’t forget to ‘like’ the post down below & follow me for more! \

10 Must – Have Makeup Brushes

Hey guys how are we all today? I’m currently sitting on my bed listening to Capital XTRA, but whats new there … I was flicking through my diary  when a loose sheet fell out of it. A sheet in which I had written a list of makeup brushes, so I thought why keep a loose sheet that, knowing me I would probably misplace, when I could just write a blogpost on them & share them with you guys too?! So these are the TOP 10 must-have brushes which everyone should have in their basic kit (in my eyes). I think these brushes cover EVERY base & would be great for an experienced MUA or a starter alike.

Before I start I would like to point out that yes, all of these brushes are from a brand called Zoeva & the reason why I chose this brand was because I’ve been on the hunt for some really GOOD quality , HIGH-END brushes that are renowned in the makeup industry, as well as really being worth their weight  (…yeah thats a saying… these brushes aren’t for heavy-weight lifters ). Zoeva is a cruelty-free brand & also has vegan brushes (as far as I’m aware, so please do let me know if I’m wrong). Since this is more of a wishlistt post rather than a review post I won’t go on in too much about the brand itself but lets just get started with the actual brushes.

225 Luxe Eye Blender £8.50

231 Luxe Petit Crease £8.50

226 Smudger £8.50

222 Luxe All Over Shader £9.50

129 Luxe Fan £10.50

110 Face Shape £10.50

122 Petit Stippling £10.50

142 Concealer Buffer £8.50

…the reason why I didn’t just choose a set, even though I’m sure Zoeva probably do some great ones, I personally find that whenever I buy a set theres always a high chance I won’t end up using at least 2 of the brushes in there   & more than anything right now I want make up brushes that I feel like I really have a need for in my collection. As you can probably tell if you’ve been reading my recent posts  Real Techniques: The ESSENTIAL eye kit, My ALL-TIME favourite foundation brush  & Real Techniques: The Core Collection I’m really into building up my makeup kit currently .

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post. If you did then please don’t forget to ‘like’ the post down below  & follow me for more!
