The Typical Beauty Blog Pinterest Tips and Tricks

Hey guys 👋 let me just insert some screenshots to start of this blogpost cause I have been documenting the blow up on my Twitter account (which you should definitely be following btw 😜 …if you aren’t already 👀). Let me just say though, to some of you hardcore pinners 📌 / social media queens & kings this might not be a “blow-up” but for someone who had roughly 100-200 monthly views since the moment they joined Pinterest till now it IS a big deal. So all I wanna do in this post is share what I’ve been doing to improve my Pinterest cause a lot of people on Twitter have been asking me 😊

This has to be the most important one. If you look at the above screenshots carefully you’ll see that as my # of pins increased 📈 so did the # views & I have to stress this to you guys. You will not 🙅 get views to your pins/profile/page unless you are actively using Pinterest! Its so important to literally pin as much as you can. I don’t have any specific guideline as to how many hours ⏰ you should be spending pinning daily because what I do, is go through the home feed, the explore section & literally pin away. You obviously only pin stuff that you’re actually interested in rather than just random bullcr*p.

This is what the last 7 days looked like, as you can see all 4 arrows have increased in % & this can only mean good stuff right?! 👀 I’m not sure what impressions actually means but its an important stat as far as I’m aware 🤔 & just look at the increase in my avg. daily viewers! 🙌

These screenshots show the same thing as the previous ones, but these ones are over a 14 day period rather than a 7 day period to show you guys a bit more of the actual trend. Just look at the # avg. daily impressions 😱

AAAAAND finally here you can CLEARLY see when I realised I made a Pinterest account 😂 like I’m not even joking guys I completely forgot I even had a Pinterest account up until Mid-September 🗓. Just look at the # of avg. daily viewers 😱 that % is absolutely crazy to me!

Know your audience

This is another really important thing guys, you have to know what kind of things your audience actually wants to see 👁👁 (wants to see you pin!) There are analytics of this on Pinterest too! Where it basically tells you about the language, gender etc as shown in the screenshots below 👇. The great thing about this is that you can pin things which you KNOW will appeal to your audience

Add descriptions

This is something I haven’t even done on all my pins 😅 as you can see below my MOST shared/saved pins don’t actually have descriptions. I mean the 4 that I re-pinned do, but out the 6 pins that are MINE only 1 of them has a description 🙈. I know, I know here I am writing about Pinterest & I don’t even follow ALL the rules, but do these “blogger rules” even exist? 🤔 All I know is that even without following all these “rules” my Pinterest has been improving daily so 💃

What is this ratio you say? 🙇 well out of the 508 pins I’ve currently got pinned 📌 across my 27 boards only 21 of them are actually MY pins. YEP. Thats right 487 of those are just re-pins. BUT it helps you guys, re-pinning lots of other pins helps with your page views a LOT. Especially if you’re still starting of on Pinterest & I’m sure you’ll read this piece of advice everywhere, as literally every blogger tells you to PIN, PIN, PIN & PIN some more! Its so crucial to get the ratio of pinning your own pins/re-pinning other pins right & once you have constant traffic coming to your account you can always increase the # of your own pins!

You can do it 💪

Looking at these stats is what has been giving me the motivation to carry on doing what I’ve been doing this past month 🗓 & I hope reading this post has motivated you guys too (if you needed motivation) or helped you guys in some way! Lastly, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post… If you did then please don’t forget to ‘like’ the post down below 👇 & follow me for more! 😁 Thankyou 💙

    1. I TOTALLY get you! Pinterest seems like the more fun and quirky instagram without all the annoying instagram bits! Also instagram doesn’t have a feature where you can like create the board type thing to share what you’re loving with your followers! Deffo missing a trick there 😅

  4. These tips will definitely be super helpful to me once i start using pinterest actively. I’m focusing on instagram now and still need to make a twitter haha! I can’t imagine how stressful it will be keeping up with all these social medias. I would love a post from you on how you actively use all of these social medias and which is the most beneficial in driving traffic to your blog! Anyways, great tips! xx

    1. Awww Thankyou So so so much for reading & taking the time to drop me a comment! That sounds like a great post idea and I have screenshotted it so that I can remember it! I’ll definitely try to get a post like that up, it is a skill balancing all the social medias and I definitely don’t feel like a social media queen yet! It’s hard but slowly slowly I incorporated them into my routine & im getting there 💪 💙

  5. I’ve had Pinterest for about 6 months now but it is only in the last couple of weeks I’ve started using it. I have to agree that you do just need to stay active and not only pin your own but repin others to help grow your audience.

  6. Another really great tip is to make sure the pins from your site are ‘rich pins’. This allows a little preview of your blog post on your pin which definitely helps for engagement! Keep up the great work!

  7. This is so true! I used to spend so much time on Pinterest and at some point my views jumped to 20k! And then I had a little break and it’s difficult to get back on track with it so my numbers are falling. But I’m not giving up! Upping my Pinterest game at the moment.

    1. Hahah Yeah I did get pretty excited to see it all unfold! Its so hard to stay on top of all the social medias & be organised but practice makes perfect! Recently I’ve been getting into the habit of trying to “promote” my blogposts on all forms of social media that I have & the numbers of returns to my blog are increasing… Pinterest is obvs the lowest atm cause its only been a month since I really started using it. I’m sure it’ll pick up! xx

  8. I’ve had Pinterest for about 2 years but never known how to use it 😅😂 gonna restart it now because I haven’t been doing it right at all! This post had really helped so thank you!!

  10. I just recently joined pinterest because I’ve heard bloggers saying it helps drive traffic to their blog. However, I haven’t posted anything because I still can’t figure out how the darn site works.
